Todo empezó con Guss, la persona que contacto a BiciNorte vía mail en Marzo de 2011. Cuando llegaron meses más tarde (Octubre), casi inmediatamente fueron a la oficina de BiciNorte (Santa Fé 8) y allí (vía telefónica) quedamos en encontrarnos pocas horas más tarde en el Hotel San Francisco (sobre calle Caseros). Al verlos me encontré con tres personas de lo más formales pero, al mismo tiempo, de lo más "claros".... no porque fueran blancos precisamente, sino por ser personas que impactaban por lo "transparente" del aura. Como estaba con mi hijo (little "Toto") la entrega de bicicletas y equipo, más chequeo y explicaciones en los mapas, no fue en la oficina sino en casa. Mientras ellos reconocían las bicicletas e iban colocando de a poco sus pedales, mi hijo (4 años) alternaba entre ayudarlos, curiosear con su triciclo alrededor de ellos, dibujar con fibrones en el piso o pretender subir a algunas de las "grandes" ... Ellos no solamente fueron muy amables sino que, como se dice por aquí "hicieron migas enseguida con little Toto" (de ahí el saludo que le mandan al final). Si bien los tres tenían experiencia en bicicleta (comprobable a simple vista) uno de ellos era claramente "el mecánico en jefe" (Hans), algo que me llevó a pensar que tal vez se trataba de un ingeniero (cosa que comprobé después).
Al regresar del viaje en bicicleta, ellos esperaban a sus esposas, con quienes se fueron de viaje en un auto alquilado por Purmamarca y Salinas Grandes. Nos conocimos todas una tarde de Octubre en el mismo Hotel. Fue una charla muy divertida y, tal como ellos, eran tres personas "transparentes" de alma. Esto lo digo más allá de la EXQUISITA TORTA que nos regalaron. ... Bedankt!!!!....

As promised a little note on our “cycling adventure” around Salta.I have written it in such a way that you can use it,or part of it, for your blog.If you feel that certain things must be written differently just tell me and i am happy to change it.
1:who are we:
dutch all three 65 years of age.well trained,we did in september Praque-Verone(italy) in 8 days with one day 180 km and an average of 2400 m ascent (denivilé),much too much for our liking but anyway.
2: one week cycling around Salta:
because there is too much traffic around Salta we put our cycles in the bus and got out 50 km for Cafayette,and slept there.Followinging days we slept in Angastaco,Molinos,Payogasta and Chicoana.We skipped a day cycling in Cachi,time problems.Total 310 km and 2900 ascent meters.See for details and alternatives the excellent websidewww.bikeroutetoaster.com
You can start the other way around but the first day you have to go from 1600 m over a top of 3400 m, you climb for 63 km,and the first hotel is in Payogasta.So with the difference in altitude and total km’s nearly impossible to make it.You can of course start in the bus.Advantage that from Payogasta to Cafayate it is downhill.
3:time and weather:
2 nd week in october.it was hot,30°C in the shaddow,sunburn was a real issue.we covered our arms to avoid sunburn,we met a swiss couple completely covered
4:the road: from Salta to Cafayate is asphalt,25 km after Cafayate starts the dirtroad and you are on the famous route 40 who goes all the way to Alska.The road is not difficult perhaps with the exception just before Angastaco, you cycle suddenly from the hard into sand.be aware of the wind,we had a very strong headwind the day from Cafayette to Angastaco.So also a lot of dust,but manageable.After Cachi the road is again asphalt all the way up to the col de Piedra del Obispo (3400m).The descent is again mainly a dirtroad but again very manageable.
5:bringing your own bike or renting
we decided to rent for the simple reason that you have to change airports in Buenos Aires and you fly with a different company so you have to pay 2 times for you own bike.time between arrival and departure is rather close,so question if you make it with your own bike most likely not,extra taxi’s etc.etc.A lot of hassle and at the end bringing your own is more expensive.We only brought our own shoes,helmet and clothes
6:by whom did we rent
we rented from “BICI NORTE” run by Analia Brizuela bicinorte@gmail.com. The bicycles were in a perfect condition,we got a kit with tools and spare parts, even the screw to fix your rear derailleur was in there ,a pump,6 inner tyres,etc.We were planning to cycle with our bagpacks but Analia had perfect bags for on the bicycle.She is a real professional,knows where she is talking about gives you excellent advise and is very nice and lively person.If you are in trouble somewhere in the middle of nowhere this is the person you want to talk to, she finds a solution.She speaks perfect english.And this all included in the price so forget your own bike.(we met 6 cyclist from Brazil who rented by someone else, they had that day 6 flat tires with one with 5 punctures;we had not one flat tire on our whole trip nor any other problem with the bikes)
7:do not forget
your mobile does not work always,bring your food and water for the whole day,starting from Salta you find nothing in between,only in the places we slept, see above.Cashmachines are not everywhere so take some extra cash; in hotels you can pay with a credit card.
8:prepairing the trip
le routard “Argentine” gives perfect information,you find where to eat and where to sleep etc,only it is in french.but lonely planet will give roughly the same information. For the distances,ascent etc consult www.bikeroutetoaster.com a perfect side to prepair your cycling trip
9:the landscape
it was the most beautiful i have ever seen;we have cycled all over Europe and in China but this beats everything.see pictures
10: the people
we never felt insecure even not in Buenos Aires,and people are really nice.everybody waves at you as soon as you are on the dirtroad,even someone stopped in his car to give us something to drink,the drivers slow down to minimize the dust.the argentines are of a kindness you rarely find anymore in europe.
11: to summarize
this is one of the most beautiful cycling trips i can imagine,and ideal for a week,also thanks to Analia who looked so perfectly after us.

Al final, todo salió bien. Olivier llegó a Salta, el semblanteo final resultó bien, y así fue como BiciNorte le alquiló bicis y equipo. El devolvió todo en San Juan. Envió bici y equipo por una empresa de la zona que llega a Salta (Andesmar), así que su experiencia por la RUTA 40 NORTE fue completa. Quedará el centro (Mendoza) y el sur (Patagonia) para otra vez.
Lo que sigue es el relato de parte de ese viaje y fotos que envió un tiempito más tarde ...

Lo que siguen, son algunos comentarios de clientes que se transformaron en amigos.

David Ponsà (Barcelona - Setiembre 2008/Octubre 2009)
Fue un cliente experto que se tomó su tiempo para planificar un viaje/desafío antes de "cruzar el charco". Objetivo: cruzar el Abra del Acay. David no tomó el camino fácil. Inició el viaje trepando Quebrada del Toro, luego Quebrada de las Cuevas hasta llegar a San Antonio de Los Cobres (Ruta Nacional 51 todo el trayecto), para desde allí encarar la trepada al Acay (ya por Ruta nacional 40).
Hizo sí, algo recomendable, mucho más después de haber completado más de 100 km de trepada desde los 1500 msnm (él comenzó desde Campo Quijano a casi 30 km de Salta capital) hasta los 4080 msnm (Abra Blanca) nuevamente a casi 30Km pero de San Antonio de Los Cobres. ¿Qué hizo? Tomó una camioneta en San Antonio que lo llevó al pie de la Cuesta que lleva al Abra del Acay. Temprano en la mañana pretendió partir, pero recién cerca del mediodía pudo arribar al destino/desafío propuesto. Todo salió bien.
Horas más tarde llegó a La Poma (Valles Calchaquíes-Norte) desde donde se contacto con la policía del lugar y se contacto con BiciNorte, dos condiciones excluyentes a la hora de alquilar quipo para encarar el cruce por el Acay. Nuevamente: todo salió bien, porque para ser sincera, la preocupación en éste tipo de alquileres no baja hasta que no llega el cliente (por más experto que sea). Incluso el clima no le jugó malas pasadas.
Casi un año después de aquel momento, recuerda el viaje como un desafío inolvidable. En su mail de principios de octubre 2009 lo describe así:
La verdad es que si, que fué yo diria mi más grande aventura en bici (mucho más que recorrer Cuba, Irlanda, el Camino de Santiago en España o seguir el curso del Danubio entre Alemania y Austria). Quizá porqué fué la primera vez que lo hice en solitario... Si el año que viene vuelvo a Salta volvemos a contactar porque me quedó pendiente la subida a la Cuesta del Obispo hasta Piedra Molino. La hice en bajada pero ya viste que la niebla me impidió ver el hermoso paisaje.

Hi Analia - just read your very interesting article that you have written on your and thought I'd email to say hi.
I admire that are not afraid to express an opinion, and you are willing to draw connections from the people that you have met through your business to the wider political questions. I think in some ways anyone who lives in a democracy has to answer for the actions of their country (although clearly not all of us agree with what our politicians do - as a Brit I was not a supporter of the invasion of Iraq). To use the Holocaust as the reason for a discount is amazing and shameful, although blackly amusing at the same time!
Anyway, I remember you well from Wendy and my visit to Salta in Sept 2006 - your bikes were the best we rented anywhere, and I hope the business is succeeding as it deserves... Send a quick note to let us know how things are going in Argentina in this difficult moment.

I hope you're well. I've just looked at your website and I was pleased that it looks as if you are still in business. One day I hope to come back to Salta.
Please would you sign this petition (cycle google maps) and circulate it to as many cycling friends as you can. With all your contacts in Argentina it could get very much larger very quickly. And if Google Maps get off the ground I might not get lost on the back roads just as it's getting dark and the rain sets in.

Hi Analia!!
Long time no see, I am sorry about that!
I hope you are safe and sound and that you remember to use your body and brane, take care of your friends, eat well and drink good vine and tell a lot of good stories.
This has not been a good year for me because in mid feb I ended up in hospital a few days with a slipped disk in my back. After a lot of training I was back on my bike in the summer, but it took some time to be back as normal. In july I vent to Sicily, Italy for a vacation.
Just returned from Morocco after 3 days in the mountains and 2 days in Marrakech, climbing the highest peak in North Africa, Jebel Toubkal(4167). The hike up to Jebel Toubkal was hard but no difficult parts. Sunshine all the time, but windy and cold on the top. No broblems at all. Marrakech was exiting, eksotic and different from what i expected. The big maketplace and the Medina(marked) was enormous. My back is 100% recovered and I had no problems with that.
I told you earlier that I planned to go to Argentina to climb Aconqagua, but I have to postphone this journey. If you ever come to Europe, you should come to Norway to visit me. Say hallo from me to Marcos.
Well, this is a small report from Norway. Have a nice time Analia!

La verdad es que desde nuestra vuelta por el NOA no he parado un minuto (viaje relámpago a Europa incluído), pero no quería dejar de agradecerte por el lindísimo viaje que nos organizaste.
Todo estuvo perfecto: las jornadas, los traslados, los hoteles, los recorridos, el material que nos entregaste y vuestra amabilidad y preocupación.
Si estuviese obligado a hacer una crítica, solo podría apuntar que quizás deberías ofrecer un rango más alto de bicis como alternativa (cobrando más, por supuesto).

Analía: Un gusto poder comunicarme con vos nuevamente; recien regreso de hacer 200 km. en bici hasta Chascomus, un pueblo a 90 de La Plata, fuimos por tierra que son como 120 y regresamos por ruta, 87. Una alegría todo lo que me contás de tu vida, tus proyectos, seguro vas a tener exito porque además de ser muy buena persona sos muy profesional en tu trabajo; te agradezco tu información acerca de " Carlos Bernardo" y espero para principio de octubre poder estar allí tomandole algín vinito y desde ya te comprometo a que vengas con nosotros, en Salta, una noche a comer a algún buen boliche de los que por esos lados abundan; va ser un gusto enorme poder estar nuevamente en tu tierra y disfrutar de ella.

Querido Analia, Hemos llegado en Escocia a pesar de unos demorados días y, como prometimos, te hemos enviados dos libros los que esperamos recibiras. Tambien, compre los tres tomos por Eduardo Galeano "Memorias del Fuego" pero no he encontrado el otro "Las venas abiertas de america latina", hasta ahora. Voy a leerlos probablemente muy lentamenmte. No importa. Pasamos un buen tiempo en Argentina especialment en Salta y el paisaje alrededor. Esperamos que todo va bien con usted y que seguire escribiendo a nosotros y corregir mis errores.

Hola Analia, como estas, espero que bien!!!!!!!
Te cuento que el viaje salio perfecto, el equipo resulto de primera, muy buena la bici y respondio en todo momento. Me acordé mucho de vos y de tus sugerencias pues el primer dia salí de Humahuaca a Tilcara tipo 11,40, llegué a las 14 y monedas, fue un viaje muy comodo pues el clima me acompañó. Por todo esto te cuento que al otro dia me agrandé y partí de Tilcara a las 13 hs.........para que......me agarro el viento que vos me comentaste y tarde tres horas para hacer los 23 Km hasta Purmamarca, claro pare a sacar fotos y fui sin apuro , pero se puso duro en algun tramo, asi que me acordaba de tus avisos.
De Purmamarca a San Salvador sali a las 10,30, esta vez no me dejaria sorprender y asi fue, llegué sin problemas y disfrutando el viaje. Te cuento que la experiencia fue maravillosa, me disfrute todo y pude ver cosas que no advertí en mis visitas anteriores a la quebrada. Me senti acompañado por mis amigos que diariamente me llamaban al celular para saber como estaba, en realidad no sentí el esfuerzo pues me habia preparado y me resulto "liviano" el trayecto.
Gracias por tus datos, tu equipo y por la calidez con la que me trataste, espero repetir la experiencia pero para el lado de Cafayate.

Its good to hear that you are keeping busy with biking. I hope that things keep going your way and you get to ride with lots of nice people.
I have been very busy here in BC. We have had all kinds of weather. Sun, snow and lots of rain lately.
My job started the second day that I got back. Its been alot of fun but I work 12hours a day and its very hard physcial work. I am a Dog Sled Guide, its a blast and you would love all the dogs they are so sweet and beautiful. Its a very old traditional thing, and I never thought that I would be doing it, but i am and its getting me into shape really fast.
I just found out that i am accepted into my program for University in Vancouver in September, so thats good, but its going to be really expensive. So i will be working lots this summer to save money for school. At the end of March we will be done Dog Sledding and then I will start landscaping. and perhaps a night waitresing job.

Hola Analia, don´t get me wrong, I enjoyed the trip a lot and the pain in my bottom is already forgotten. After Salta, I went to Jujuy, but that was a lost day: horrible. But Mendoza was great, I stayed there for a week and took some Spanish classes. Coming
in Chili, I was immediately sorry that I did not stay longer in Mendoza. Chili is not my favorite, although Valparaiso is very nice and beaches and swimming is always good. I´m now in La Serena, the most popular beach resort, but why that is ?? I really do not know. Next week I am going to the south to do 3 weeks of trekkings. And after that.. back home.
Up to now, the first week of biking is still on top of my list of things which is liked most. And the second was also really very good. So don´t worry. I have to find time to come to Argentina again. But in the meantime I will tell my friends how great Salta is and biking there, on you bikes off course !

Nota: Bas sufrió una caída bastante fuerte en un tramo de la Cuesta del Obispo. Es un sector que abarca alrededor de 3 km en línea recta en la base de la ruta de ascenso/descenso. Al descender, la velocidad es .... una tentación. Pero en aquel momento, ese tramo de la ruta no tenía pavimento. Era rocoso con puntas y particularmente peligroso para esa mezcla de velocidad excitante durante el final de un descenso de casi 22 km. El se cayó y con una parte de la bicicleta se abrió uno de los músculos posteriores de la pierna. Cuando llamaron a BiciNorte él estaba en el hospital local (San Bernardo, ciudad de Salta). Le estaban cosiendo una herida de varios centímetros.

Hola Analia,
Como estas ? Hemos regresado en Holanda. Hay mucha lluvia aqui pero estamos en la verano con una temperature de 25 Celsius.
No estuvimos muchas problemas durante la fin de nuestra viaje a traves de Sud America. Visitamos despues San Pedro de Atacama, Bolivia (La Paz, Uyuni, Tupiza, Sorata y Cpacabana) y Peru (Cusco, Ausangate, Machu Picchu, Lima, Huancayo)
Fuimos en bicicletas de todo terreno tambien en La Paz (La Cumbre to Coroico) y en el desierto de Atacama. Fue muy bueno. Ahora ya trabajamos con nuestra vieja companias y el ritmo esta como siempre antes de que viajamos.
Esperamos que a ti te gusta la historia con las fotos. Sera una buena referencia para otra gente quien pensa para viajar contigo. Quando regresamos una dia en Argetina poderemos hacer un otra traversia contigo.
Muchas gracias para ser nuestra guia durante estos tres dias, disfrutamos mucho la region de Salta especialemente la ruta del tren a las Nubes !

Good to here from you, I remember the bike trip well, it was the highlight of Salta for me. I also definitely remember the ajies. (I think I can still taste them.)
I`m still in South America, I`ve spent the last 2 months travelling around Argentina and Chile. I`ve just finished a hike through the Torres del Pan in Chile, and I`m flying to New Zealand on Friday.

Querida Analia,
Espero que te vaya bien. Estamos en La Paz. Nuestra visita a Bolivia ha sido excelente: una mezcla de trabajo y ciclismo. Estuvimos 10 dias en El Chapare investigando el tema de la coca y el desarrollo alternativo. Tambian, acabamos de regresar de Los Yungos, caminamos por cuatro dias de La Cumbre a Coroico y despues reunirmos con algunos productores de la coca etc. Basciamente el trabajo ha sido sumamente interesante y tenemos much informacion para nuestro libro sobre la agriculture andina.
Vamos a salir a Peru en bici en los proximos dias.
Cuentanos come te va en Salta.

Gracias para tu mensaje. Regresamos a Inglaterra hace 10 dias. Todavia estoy intentando acostumbrarme a las condiciones aca - lluvia, viento y cinco minutos de sol cada dia.!!
Terminamos el viaje en Ecuador aunque en las ultimas dos meses. Trabajamos bastante y por eso no pudimos andar en las bicis. No se que vamos a hacer ahora. Sophie tiene trabajo (medio timepo) en el mismo lugar donde trabajaba antes. Yo tengo algunas horas ensenando los estudiantes en La Universidad de Oxford Brookes. Al mismo tiempo queremos escribir nuestro libro. Me hace falta America del Sur y estoy explorando las posibilidades de regresar!!!!

6:by whom did we rent
we rented from “BICI NORTE” run by Analia Brizuela bicinorte@gmail.com. The bicycles were in a perfect condition,we got a kit with tools and spare parts, even the screw to fix your rear derailleur was in there ,a pump,6 inner tyres,etc.We were planning to cycle with our bagpacks but Analia had perfect bags for on the bicycle.She is a real professional,knows where she is talking about gives you excellent advise and is very nice and lively person.If you are in trouble somewhere in the middle of nowhere this is the person you want to talk to, she finds a solution.She speaks perfect english.And this all included in the price so forget your own bike.(we met 6 cyclist from Brazil who rented by someone else, they had that day 6 flat tires with one with 5 punctures;we had not one flat tire on our whole trip nor any other problem with the bikes)
7:do not forget
your mobile does not work always,bring your food and water for the whole day,starting from Salta you find nothing in between,only in the places we slept, see above.Cashmachines are not everywhere so take some extra cash; in hotels you can pay with a credit card.
8:prepairing the trip
le routard “Argentine” gives perfect information,you find where to eat and where to sleep etc,only it is in french.but lonely planet will give roughly the same information. For the distances,ascent etc consult www.bikeroutetoaster.com a perfect side to prepair your cycling trip
9:the landscape
it was the most beautiful i have ever seen;we have cycled all over Europe and in China but this beats everything.see pictures
10: the people
we never felt insecure even not in Buenos Aires,and people are really nice.everybody waves at you as soon as you are on the dirtroad,even someone stopped in his car to give us something to drink,the drivers slow down to minimize the dust.the argentines are of a kindness you rarely find anymore in europe.
11: to summarize
this is one of the most beautiful cycling trips i can imagine,and ideal for a week,also thanks to Analia who looked so perfectly after us.

A mediados de Julio, un par de familias (8 integrantes en total) alquilaron bicicletas con BiciNorte. El viaje fue por la zona de San Lorenzo (el paseo clásico por ruta) y si bien, uno de sus integrantes sufrió una caída sin suerte en la ciclovía que va hacia San Lorenzo, el resto de los integrantes logró completar un día de sol para el recuerdo. Mandaron fotos hace poco. SALUDOS!!!
Soy Gabriel, uno de los ocho que te alquilamos las bicis junto con Alejandro el 22 de julio.
Te adjunto una foto para tu colección.

Tal como cuenta Olivier, a mediados de Enero llega una consulta: un extranjero quería pedalear SOLO por la ruta 40. Cuando una persona quiere alquiler bicis y equipo para un viaje de esa naturaleza, la ida y vuelta de mails suele ser extensa: las preguntas van desde su experiencia hasta un semblateo ... es decir, si puede tratarse de una persona flexible que le permita resolver los innumerables inconvenientes de una aventura.
Lo que sigue es el relato de parte de ese viaje y fotos que envió un tiempito más tarde ...

Thanks a lot again for the experience I was able to live with your help. A few words that I hope would make more people feel like discovering the wonderful Salta area by bike....
In mid January, I rented a mountainbike with Analia & BiciNorte. I contacted Analia in last minute and she did all she could to accomodate my needs.... i got a bike & gear ready in a few days. analia is very meticulous & will make sure any detail has been taken care of. If you like things that are carefully planned, you will appreciate. She is also very worried about security etc and made sure i took helmet, big pump, spare tyre, and many more things than I had imagined.
I m not used to bike tours, a first time for me to set on a 1 week tour. my plan: bus to the bottom of the Cuesta del Obispo and then cachi and ruta 40 south... as far as i could go.... I decided, very optimistic, to tackle Cuesta del Diablo (Obispo) on day 1. Way too optimistic, after 30 minutes in 35° celsius, a few mosquitoes, a lot of sweat and dust, i decided to hitchhike: i was very badly prepared. this place must have been wonderful to do uphill, but it is definitely a hard bit and you need to
1/ be in great shape
2/ be well rested
3/ already used to your gear
Anyway, you can do it or just be droppped by the bus on top of climb, at the pass. From there, some 40km to cachi, mostly downhill :)
Then 1 day to Molinos, , 1 to Cafayate.... Hard but gorgeous landscapes....
Now if i had to go it again in NOA
1/ i would do a bike tour from salta, circle. to cachi, then R40 to cafayte and then back to salta
2/ i would explore tafi,jujuy and inland in the altiplano
Bike is great... if you like to be active while in vacation, you will love this. when i came back to Belgium, first thing i did is bring my bike to the shop to arrange a fitting for paniers... i m getting addicted :)
ps: there are many hotel options on the way. i would advise, unless you are experienced, not to carry camping gear and just sleep in the nice hotels you will find in the main villages. all kind of budgets.... Try la Vaca Tranquila in San Carlos (20km north/ before Cafayate) > belgian run & beer brewer on the side. hmmm.

Lo que siguen, son algunos comentarios de clientes que se transformaron en amigos.
Algunos van con fotos.
David Ponsà (Barcelona - Setiembre 2008/Octubre 2009)
Fue un cliente experto que se tomó su tiempo para planificar un viaje/desafío antes de "cruzar el charco". Objetivo: cruzar el Abra del Acay. David no tomó el camino fácil. Inició el viaje trepando Quebrada del Toro, luego Quebrada de las Cuevas hasta llegar a San Antonio de Los Cobres (Ruta Nacional 51 todo el trayecto), para desde allí encarar la trepada al Acay (ya por Ruta nacional 40).
Hizo sí, algo recomendable, mucho más después de haber completado más de 100 km de trepada desde los 1500 msnm (él comenzó desde Campo Quijano a casi 30 km de Salta capital) hasta los 4080 msnm (Abra Blanca) nuevamente a casi 30Km pero de San Antonio de Los Cobres. ¿Qué hizo? Tomó una camioneta en San Antonio que lo llevó al pie de la Cuesta que lleva al Abra del Acay. Temprano en la mañana pretendió partir, pero recién cerca del mediodía pudo arribar al destino/desafío propuesto. Todo salió bien.
Horas más tarde llegó a La Poma (Valles Calchaquíes-Norte) desde donde se contacto con la policía del lugar y se contacto con BiciNorte, dos condiciones excluyentes a la hora de alquilar quipo para encarar el cruce por el Acay. Nuevamente: todo salió bien, porque para ser sincera, la preocupación en éste tipo de alquileres no baja hasta que no llega el cliente (por más experto que sea). Incluso el clima no le jugó malas pasadas.
Casi un año después de aquel momento, recuerda el viaje como un desafío inolvidable. En su mail de principios de octubre 2009 lo describe así:

Hi Analia!!
Long time no see, I am sorry about that!
This has not been a good year for me because in mid feb I ended up in hospital a few days with a slipped disk in my back. After a lot of training I was back on my bike in the summer, but it took some time to be back as normal. In july I vent to Sicily, Italy for a vacation.
Just returned from Morocco after 3 days in the mountains and 2 days in Marrakech, climbing the highest peak in North Africa, Jebel Toubkal(4167). The hike up to Jebel Toubkal was hard but no difficult parts. Sunshine all the time, but windy and cold on the top. No broblems at all. Marrakech was exiting, eksotic and different from what i expected. The big maketplace and the Medina(marked) was enormous. My back is 100% recovered and I had no problems with that.
I told you earlier that I planned to go to Argentina to climb Aconqagua, but I have to postphone this journey. If you ever come to Europe, you should come to Norway to visit me. Say hallo from me to Marcos.
Well, this is a small report from Norway. Have a nice time Analia!

Todo estuvo perfecto: las jornadas, los traslados, los hoteles, los recorridos, el material que nos entregaste y vuestra amabilidad y preocupación.
Si estuviese obligado a hacer una crítica, solo podría apuntar que quizás deberías ofrecer un rango más alto de bicis como alternativa (cobrando más, por supuesto).

Querido Analia, Hemos llegado en Escocia a pesar de unos demorados días y, como prometimos, te hemos enviados dos libros los que esperamos recibiras. Tambien, compre los tres tomos por Eduardo Galeano "Memorias del Fuego" pero no he encontrado el otro "Las venas abiertas de america latina", hasta ahora. Voy a leerlos probablemente muy lentamenmte. No importa. Pasamos un buen tiempo en Argentina especialment en Salta y el paisaje alrededor. Esperamos que todo va bien con usted y que seguire escribiendo a nosotros y corregir mis errores.

Hola Analia, como estas, espero que bien!!!!!!!
Te cuento que el viaje salio perfecto, el equipo resulto de primera, muy buena la bici y respondio en todo momento. Me acordé mucho de vos y de tus sugerencias pues el primer dia salí de Humahuaca a Tilcara tipo 11,40, llegué a las 14 y monedas, fue un viaje muy comodo pues el clima me acompañó. Por todo esto te cuento que al otro dia me agrandé y partí de Tilcara a las 13 hs.........para que......me agarro el viento que vos me comentaste y tarde tres horas para hacer los 23 Km hasta Purmamarca, claro pare a sacar fotos y fui sin apuro , pero se puso duro en algun tramo, asi que me acordaba de tus avisos.
De Purmamarca a San Salvador sali a las 10,30, esta vez no me dejaria sorprender y asi fue, llegué sin problemas y disfrutando el viaje. Te cuento que la experiencia fue maravillosa, me disfrute todo y pude ver cosas que no advertí en mis visitas anteriores a la quebrada. Me senti acompañado por mis amigos que diariamente me llamaban al celular para saber como estaba, en realidad no sentí el esfuerzo pues me habia preparado y me resulto "liviano" el trayecto.
Gracias por tus datos, tu equipo y por la calidez con la que me trataste, espero repetir la experiencia pero para el lado de Cafayate.

Its good to hear that you are keeping busy with biking. I hope that things keep going your way and you get to ride with lots of nice people.
I have been very busy here in BC. We have had all kinds of weather. Sun, snow and lots of rain lately.
My job started the second day that I got back. Its been alot of fun but I work 12hours a day and its very hard physcial work. I am a Dog Sled Guide, its a blast and you would love all the dogs they are so sweet and beautiful. Its a very old traditional thing, and I never thought that I would be doing it, but i am and its getting me into shape really fast.
I just found out that i am accepted into my program for University in Vancouver in September, so thats good, but its going to be really expensive. So i will be working lots this summer to save money for school. At the end of March we will be done Dog Sledding and then I will start landscaping. and perhaps a night waitresing job.

Hola Analia, don´t get me wrong, I enjoyed the trip a lot and the pain in my bottom is already forgotten. After Salta, I went to Jujuy, but that was a lost day: horrible. But Mendoza was great, I stayed there for a week and took some Spanish classes. Coming
in Chili, I was immediately sorry that I did not stay longer in Mendoza. Chili is not my favorite, although Valparaiso is very nice and beaches and swimming is always good. I´m now in La Serena, the most popular beach resort, but why that is ?? I really do not know. Next week I am going to the south to do 3 weeks of trekkings. And after that.. back home.
Up to now, the first week of biking is still on top of my list of things which is liked most. And the second was also really very good. So don´t worry. I have to find time to come to Argentina again. But in the meantime I will tell my friends how great Salta is and biking there, on you bikes off course !

Nota: Bas sufrió una caída bastante fuerte en un tramo de la Cuesta del Obispo. Es un sector que abarca alrededor de 3 km en línea recta en la base de la ruta de ascenso/descenso. Al descender, la velocidad es .... una tentación. Pero en aquel momento, ese tramo de la ruta no tenía pavimento. Era rocoso con puntas y particularmente peligroso para esa mezcla de velocidad excitante durante el final de un descenso de casi 22 km. El se cayó y con una parte de la bicicleta se abrió uno de los músculos posteriores de la pierna. Cuando llamaron a BiciNorte él estaba en el hospital local (San Bernardo, ciudad de Salta). Le estaban cosiendo una herida de varios centímetros.

I know, we´re more on the quite side, but that´s only because we don`t know any Spanish. Did I get your name right? My sister said it´s spelt: Analia. Please tell us who´s right. (Probably both wrong, ey?)

da bs. as. por la patagonia del sur, il trekking sobre il hielo sur - espectacular!! volves por cordoba - aquillado un auto - viajando por mendoza il parque aconcagua, tambien espectacular il paisaje y las montagnas!!
continuamo por il valle de luna y volves por cordoba. - desde aca volando a bariloche y visitando un poco la suiza de argentina - hermosa, y sube il vulcano lanin!! a hora yo paso i ultimos dias a va. angostura y sale il domingo proximo por la suiza.
esto viaje en argentina con todos los estancias inolvidables, todo la gente amable que yo encontro, y lugares hermosas - es un grand suenio de volver.......

Hola Analia,
Como estas ? Hemos regresado en Holanda. Hay mucha lluvia aqui pero estamos en la verano con una temperature de 25 Celsius.
No estuvimos muchas problemas durante la fin de nuestra viaje a traves de Sud America. Visitamos despues San Pedro de Atacama, Bolivia (La Paz, Uyuni, Tupiza, Sorata y Cpacabana) y Peru (Cusco, Ausangate, Machu Picchu, Lima, Huancayo)
Fuimos en bicicletas de todo terreno tambien en La Paz (La Cumbre to Coroico) y en el desierto de Atacama. Fue muy bueno. Ahora ya trabajamos con nuestra vieja companias y el ritmo esta como siempre antes de que viajamos.
Muchas gracias para ser nuestra guia durante estos tres dias, disfrutamos mucho la region de Salta especialemente la ruta del tren a las Nubes !

Good to here from you, I remember the bike trip well, it was the highlight of Salta for me. I also definitely remember the ajies. (I think I can still taste them.)
I`m still in South America, I`ve spent the last 2 months travelling around Argentina and Chile. I`ve just finished a hike through the Torres del Pan in Chile, and I`m flying to New Zealand on Friday.
